Holland Lop Bucks
Below are the current bucks residing in my rabbitry and contributing to my BEW development. They are not for sale unless noted. We use mostly torts, blacks, blues and an occasional orange to improve the BEW type, but we also occasionally breed non-vienna gene carriers to each other to remain competitive on the show table and to continue to improve our breeding stock.
Blue Eyed Whites
Vienna Carriers and Vienna Marked
SPH's Cotton
Sire: Blue Sapphire's Kazzam - Blue Eyed White
Dam: SPH's Q-tip - Cream Vienna Carrier Variety: Blue Eyed White Legs: None Gorgeous, typey buck! I love just about everything about Cotton. I wish he was a bit less shaggy, and had less length to his coat. The best BEW I've produced to date! He has produced several nice offspring, a few of which have traveled overseas to help other herds. |
SPH's Swabs
Sire: SPH's Cotton - BEW
Dam: Blue Sapphire's Venia - BEW Variety: BEW Legs: Not Shown I don't usually do BEW to BEW breedings, unless I think the combination will be exceptional, and in this case, I am very glad I did. Two of the three kits were keepers, one being Swabs. He just turned 6 months and is still growing, and I am so excited to watch him finish out. We are anxiously awaiting his first litters. Now living at the Blue Moon Rabbitry |
SPH's Cambric
Sire: SPH's Cotton - BEW
Dam: Saynora's Bettina - Chestnut Variety: Chestnut VM Legs: Not Shown This spunky, attention hog is just the sweetest little guy. He has about 5 white hairs in the center of his forehead that aren't overly noticeable, so there is a chance he could be shown without getting disqualified, although I haven't tried. I love this boy's type and head, but I wish his crown had better placement. I am anxiously awaiting his first litters to be born. |
SPH's White Glove Inspection
Sire: SPH's Cotton - BEW
Dam: Saynora's Fydora - Chestnut Variety: Black VM Legs: Not showable White Glove is a chonky boy with a terrible crown and beautiful everything else. He is thick, smooth, social and just the perfect beefcake of a buck you want for a Holland. I am especially appreciative of his mass and how it continues to contribute to the shrimpy tendency the BEWs as a whole tend to display. Despite his slipped crown, his positive attributes greatly outweigh his faults. I love his topline, head shape and size, deep and wide chest and overall balance. It's a shame he can't be shown, as this is a buck that truly needs to be appreciated with your hands. |
Non-Vienna Carriers
Torts, Blacks, Blues and all other varieties
SPH's Ruger
Sire: GC SPH's Merlot - Tort
|
GC SPH's Merlot
Sire: GC eligible JASH's Mickey Mouse - Tort
Dam: Critter Co*Op Pavanne - Tort Variety: Tort Legs: 7 Sweet Merlot is one of my absolute favorite homegrown Hollands. He is beautifully typed, upright and short, nubby tree stump legs and a massive, round head. To top it off, he has the sweetest disposition and loves attention. His agreeable nature and easy, upright pose has helped him earn his grand championship on the table, winning several BOBs and BOSBs as both a junior and a senior. He's a powerhouse producer thus far as well. |
SPH's Horacio
Sire: BFE's Marvel - Tort
Dam: SPH's Praline - Tort Variety: Tort Legs: 1 BOSB, 2021 WCC Horacio is a solid little buck sired by the 2019 HLRC trio buck donated by Brock's Fallen Ears rabbitry. I unfortunately lost this buck after a negative reaction to the RHVD2 vaccine, but I was able to get a couple of nice offspring by him before then, Horatio being the only buck. Horacio is a very handsome buck with excellent balance, bone and type. I anticipate him to continue to get better and better, as he's still pretty young. He took a best opposite sex of breed at the 2021 West Coast Classic under Judge Maddie Pratt, which was very exciting as this was his first time to show and my first show back after the 2020 lockdown and RHVD2 outbreak. I haven't gotten to go to a show since then, so his singular win earned him his spot in the line of herd bucks. |
