Mini Rex Does
Below are the current bucks residing in my rabbitry and contributing to my Lutino mini rex development. They are not for sale unless noted. We use several colors to help improve fur quality and type. In our Lutinos, we use black, blue and castor and REWs that are genetic self or castor. . Even though we are focusing on Lutino varieties primarily, we get other colors as a result of using other colors for improvement and often keep Lutino free offspring to continue to improve our non-lutino lines.
Lutinos; Shadow and Dove
SPH's Sparkler
Sire: Berlena's Flare - Broken Red (F3)
Dam: Berlena's Hum - Broken Castor (F3) Variety: Broken Shadow Lutino Legs: Not Shown Sparkler is a pretty doe project doe. She and her sister were the first rex furred lutinos I got in my rabbitry, and are the beginning of the type improvement part of the project, now that I no longer have to deal with non-rex furred rabbits! |
Berlena's Rubi
Sire: Berlena's Flare - Broken Red (Lutino Carrier)
Dam: Berlena's Rosa - Dilute Shadow Lutino Variety: Broken Shadow Lutino Legs: Not Shown Rubi is a firely little doe that goes back to SPH's Leroy Brown, an F1 from my very first lutino mini rex project litter. While she's coarse and thin of coat, she's the right color and the right fur type. She consistently produces excellent offspring, including SPH's Comenzando and SPH's SPH's Serpiente. |
SPH's Dark Horse
Sire: SPH's Comenzando - Broken Black Otter, Lutino Carrier
Dam: SPH's Weezer - Broken Castor, Lutino Carrier Variety: Broken Castor Legs: Not Shown This gorgeous rabbit look a lot like her grandfather, GC EZDae's/3GR's Tornado, which makes sense as her parents are half siblings, both sired by Tornado. I would feel proud to show this doe, despite her darker than desired surface color, but I think her value is more towards contributing her genes in the Lutino project. She is currently bred for her first litter. My hope is she puts her fur and type on a lutino colored offspring! In addition to being stunning, she has the sweetest personality. |
SPH's Serpiente
Sire: EZDae's/3GR's Copperhead - Black
Dam: Berlena's Rubi - Broken Shadow Lutino Variety: Broken Black Otter Legs: Not Shown This pretty brood doe has a lot of nice parts to contribute to the Lutino project. She's just now hitting breeding age, and I can't wait to get her bred! Her father is one of my favorite herd bucks, added in 2021 to get some dove Lutinos in the nest boxes. |
Non-Lutino; Black, Castor, Blue and REW
SPH's Sippy Cup
Sire: GC EZDae's/3GR's Tornado - Broken Castor
Dam: GC Gallery's Milk - White Variety: Castor Legs: Not Shown This gorgeously typed and furred mini rex is as unfortunately dark as her father, but holy moly she's nice. She's the deepest and widest mini rex in the barn, and her fur is to die for. Although she is a false dwarf and too big to show, her exceptional fur and type are testament to her parents both being best in show winning grand champions. |
EZDae's/3GR's Alys
Sire:
Dam: Variety: Broken Black Legs: Not Shown This gorgeous doe was a gift from Dae Lycos from EZDae's rabbitry in Phoenix. I absolutely love her and bred her immediately, as at the time I got her our state was in an RHVD2 lockdown and no shows were scheduled. She should have been shown, as she would have done well. Her fur and type are to die for! She is amazing, and I already have a beautiful litter by her. I cannot wait to utilize her in the Lutino program. Thanks Dae! |
GMtC's Olympia
Sire: KT's Catnap - White
Dam: TIJA's Hola - Broken Black Variety: Broken Black Legs: None Another beautiful broken doe joint bred between Shianne Strickland and I. She has been shown and has done quite well. She's short, wide and deep, and has a nice coat of fur on her. I love her fullness and cute, bucky head. She is an excellent producer and mother. |
